Our History

The Early Days

On Sunday, March 5th, 2000, Pastor Steve and Amy McCartt had their first service in a small rented building on Palmetto Street in Florence, South Carolina. With only twenty-eight people in the sanctuary and two children in the children’s ministry that day, Pastor Steve cast the vision of Family Worship Center: “We are not in Florence to build another church on the strength of programs, but this church will be built on the Word of God, and the freedom and power of the Holy Spirit.” The young ministry shrunk to eight by the next Sunday, but God breathed on it and things began to happen. By December of that year, thirty-five people had made FWC their home. The following year, FWC had doubled and by the fifth year so many more families were added that the small church facility was no longer able to accommodate the growing congregation.

A New Building

In 2005, God provided a new home for Family Worship Center and FWC moved to their current location on Cashua Drive. On Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, approximately one hundred and fifty people came to the first service in the facility that potentially seated 300 people. Since that time, FWC has experienced constant and consistent growth. Over the next several years the need for more room and additional space prompted land acquisitions, additional building purchases and several sanctuary modifications and renovations.
